Position:  Dental Department – Bilingual Patient Registrar

SUMMARY:  The Patient Registrar works performing those duties necessary to prepare patients administratively for a dental visit. Must be bilingual (Spanish-English).  Prior experience in a dental office.

Position:  Staff Dentist 

        Under the general direction of the Chief Dental Officer, the Dentist works as part of the Dental Department performing those duties
necessary to evaluate and maintain the dental health of our patients.  Must have a current NC dental license.

SUMMARY:  Under the general direction of the Chief Dental Officer, the Dentist works as part of the Dental Department performing those duties necessary to evaluate and maintain the dental health of our patients.

PRIMARY DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:  (other duties may be assigned)

Provide dental services to individual patients of all age groups.
Properly document diagnoses and treatment of dental patient visits.
Forward encounter forms to the Health Center’s billing department for timely processing.
Work under the direction of the Dental Director and with support staff in adhering to the maintenance of adequate and current dental records.
Participate in the development of, and adherence to, the dental health care plan, clinical protocols, quality assessment and quality improvement procedures and other procedures of practice.
Adhere to the provision of the personnel policies of the Health Center.
Assess, diagnose, plan treatment and implement individual dental care plans.
Refer to other health care providers when necessary, including specialist for care and/or evaluation of conditions judged to require this additional expertise.
Maximize reimbursement opportunities from third-party payers, including commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

In the absence of the Chief Dental Officer, the Staff Dentist will assume supervisory responsibilities for the following dental staff:  Dental Hygienist; Dental Assistants; Dental Manager.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:  None

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills, and/or ability required:

            EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEGraduate of an accredited school of dentistry; minimum of two (2) years of practice as a general dentist; participate annually in continuing professional dental education

            ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL/MOTOR SKILLS: The Staff Dentist must understand medical terminology and possess accurate keyboarding skills. The incumbent must have the ability to use standard office equipment: including computers, photocopiers, and facsimile machines. He/She possesses the ability to learn, understand, and use Internet insurance eligibility systems.  The Staff Dentist must have the ability to operate X-ray and dental clinical and laboratory equipment.

            INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: The Staff Dentist possesses excellent telephone etiquette, interpersonal and customer service skills.  Teamwork and communication skills are essential.  The incumbent must treat all patients, co-workers, and managers with courtesy and respect.  He/She must possess the ability to recognize the special needs of a specific age group and to treat them accordingly.
